Sam De Smet

He is graphic artist who lives and works in Antwerp, where he has developed his own style influenced by street-art, Picasso and Bacon to name some. His work consists of silk screen prints, installations, drawings and paintings. The scale can vary from the size of a small A4 silk screen print to a larger triptych. His work can be divided into 3 categories: serigraphic works, drawings and sketches.

Sam shows the viewer non-existent, but identifiable places, moments and characters that appear to have been taken from contemporary everyday life, aiming thereby to capture in his images the tragicomic absurdity of ourselves. His work is fed by a keen interest in social and cultural reflection.
He has given a solo exhibition in Life Is Art from 29/11/2012 until 09/12/2012.
